Ohio Wesleyan University seeks a motivated Associate Director focused on student success to help support this important institutional work. The Associate Director will make a difference in the lives of college students and will be invested in helping students meet their academic and personal goals.
The Associate Director of the Office of the International & Off-Campus Programs / OWU Connection Programs will play an important role in supporting a diverse and inclusive campus by serving and advising international and global nomad students, faculty and staff and by furthering the goals of the OWU Connection which ensures opportunities for global experiences (including study abroad) and experiential education. The Associate Director will be principally involved in the areas of international student services, study abroad (both term and faculty-led) and OWU’s Theory-to-Practice Grant and Small Grant programs.
The Associate Director of the Office of the International & Off-Campus Programs / OWU Connection Programs will work directly with students, faculty and staff on a daily basis with a service-oriented mindset. This position requires a positive attitude, even in fast-paced situations, with an eye towards supporting the community for the best liberal arts education possible.
Duties & Responsibilities:
International Services (65%)
Provide support, advising and advocacy for international and U.S. Global Nomad students.
Serve as Designated School Official for SEVIS.
Provide immigration advising to F-1 international students.
Plan, organize and lead New International Student Orientation.
Serve as an advisor and advocate for student clubs and organizations.
Manage the international student tax program.
Promote student adjustment to the U.S. academic system and U.S. culture.
Off-Campus Programs, including Study Abroad (25%)
Advise students about international and off-campus educational opportunities, including semester and year-long study abroad, summer study abroad, short-term faculty led programs and domestic off-campus programs.
Assist with pre- and post-experience programs for students who engage in international and off-campus experiences.
Assist with the international and off-campus risk management and critical incident response.
Participate in the on-call after-hours call rota.
Support for the OWU Connection and Internationalization at OWU (10%)
Support an inclusive and diverse campus culture and intercultural understanding. Advocate for international students within the University and the local community.
B. Provide faculty support for international education, international students in the classroom and internationalized teaching and learning.
Assist the administration of the Theory-to-Practice Grant Program and the Small Grant Program.
