The University Center for the Child and the Family (UCCF) at the University of Michigan is excited to offer a full-time, 12-month Post-MSW Fellowship. This is an advanced clinical training program beginning February 1, 2022 and ending January 31, 2023 with an opportunity to extend the Fellowship for a second year. The mission of this Post-MSW training program is to advance practice competency, professionalism, and leadership in the field of clinical social work.
The Social Work Fellow has an opportunity to advance and deepen clinical skills using a brief therapy model, as well as an opportunity to gain longer-term psychotherapy experience. The training program emphasizes evidence-based interventions.
The supervisory staff at UCCF offer expertise in:
early childhood interventions
cognitive-behavioral interventions for youth depression, anxiety, and trauma
Autism Spectrum disorders (ASD)
parent management training
emotion-regulation and mindfulness
psychoeducational testing and school consultation
family therapy approaches
Social Work Fellows will gain supervised experience providing diagnostic assessments, brief psychotherapy, outreach, case management, and crisis intervention.
Additional experiences in consultation and interdisciplinary collaboration, multicultural and diversity competencies, professional development, ethics, developing and facilitating groups, and leadership/administrative skills are also infused throughout the fellowship.
Fully licensed clinical social workers will primarily supervise Social Work Fellows, with additional supervision provided by licensed psychologists. The Fellow will have opportunities to supervise social work students, engage in clinical teaching as a part of a training plan, and develop case conceptualization and clinical intervention skills, which tailor evidence-based clinical practice to individual youth and families with unique identities, histories, and experiences of the world. Issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion will addressed throughout the fellowship experience.
UCCF is interested in applicants who have direct clinical experience using evidence-based interventions with children across the developmental spectrum, families from diverse backgrounds, and telebehavioral health with children and families.
Eligible applicants must have satisfactorily completed an accredited Social Work Master’s Program, hold a Limited License in Social Work in the State of Michigan (LLMSW). A criminal background check must be cleared at the time of hire.
The Fellowship offers a stipend of $31,200. Comprehensive health care through University of Michigan is available, along with paid time off and professional development time.
