Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Admissions Officer for Undergraduate Admissions- New Brunswick. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Applicant Services, the Admissions Officer has primary responsibility for the coordination of the review and notification of undergraduate applications for admission and programs for Rutgers University-New Brunswick undergraduate applicants who apply through the New Brunswick Undergraduate Admissions office and are maintained on the undergraduate admissions system. In consultation with admissions directors and school deans, discusses academic credentials, admissions parameters, and adherence to the University Senate Policy on Undergraduate Admissions; meets with admissions committees; assists with defining program parameters; and resolves issues related to the above matters.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Involved in audit coordination updating communications, and reviewing credentials and appropriate coding, and monitoring the audit progression for each enrollment term.
Provides support to Residency Analysis Form review and related tasks and make residency determinations regarding tuition, program, and aid eligibility within policies set by the State of New Jersey and Rutgers University.
Communicates and provides admissions status information to university personnel representing state and federal government relations, deans, academic, and administrative units.
Drafts training manuals and participates in the training of new staff and seasonal employees in admissions' procedures and policies.
Participates in standard admissions counselor/officer duties, including student/family admissions counseling, presenting for information sessions, and fulfilling an assigned number of recruitment activities.
Develops and completes special projects as needed at all stages of the recruitment cycle through enrollment.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of two years comprehensive professional experience in college admissions/enrollment management that include admission determinations, working with faculties and academic administrators, academic advising, group-leading, delegating, and ensuring completion of work assignments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to accurately meet numeric goals within established time frames.
Excellent communication skills including, writing and presentation/public speaking.
Strong interpersonal skills are required including the ability to be collaborative, persuasive, and diplomatic.
Organization, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills; as well as the ability to understand, interpret, and implement state, federal, university, and professional association regulations, rules, and criteria.
Computer literacy to include Microsoft Excel, Word, Windows, spreadsheets and other relational databases.
Committed to customer service; have the ability to work independently, as a project manager, and as part of a team.
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Ability to be highly self-motivated, imaginative, flexible, and open to organizational change.
Willingness to master new technology.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding higher education.
Experience working with diverse populations of students, staff and faculty desired.
Most functions are done online. Uses IMS screens, Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Business Objects, Perceptive Content, CRM and proprietary tools on a daily basis to perform required tasks.
