Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment/University Registrar, plans, organizes implements, and evaluates career/technical education programs for the University. Provides short- and long-range program planning and marketing of services to facilitate enrollment growth in career/technical fields.
1. Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement. 2. Develops marketing strategies and resources for promotion of Bachelor of Applied Sciences (BAS), as well as other career/technical related degrees, through partnerships with community colleges; business/industry and related organizations; military leadership; active military; veterans and military families; etc. 3. Collaborates with academic colleges and University community to provide undergraduate and graduate career opportunities and technical education, i.e., develop emphasis areas of the BAS, stackable certificates programs, etc. 4. Collaborates with MSU academic colleges to evaluate growth opportunities, providing additional emphasis for areas to meet the needs of career/technical students. 5. Coordinates with academic advisors in recruiting and advising across MSU campuses for students in career/technical education related programs. 6. Knowledgeable about admissions and scholarship requirements for career/technical programs. 7. Collaborates and coordinates with state and federal agencies, higher education institutions, and private sector to develop new and enhance existing workforce development efforts. 8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Focus Education Master's Degree Higher Education Administration, Career/ Technical, or a related field
Experience (yrs.) Seven years Directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
1. Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Administration, Career/Technical Education, or a related field. 2. Experience beyond the minimum requirement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-range goals. 2. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. 3. Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. 4. Program planning and implementation skills. 5. Knowledge of career/technical education or higher education. 6. Ability to use independent judgement and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele. 7. Knowledge of career counseling principles and practices. 8. Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills. 9. Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues and approaches in an area of expertise. 10. Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
1. No or very limited physical effort required. 2. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. 3. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 4. Will require extensive travel.
