Under the direction of the Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery physicians, the Physician Assistant (PA) will provide patient care in support to the Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery practice and will also hold independent clinics to support general/specialty patient care. Provides comprehensive history and physical exams; orders diagnostic test and follow up on these and other lab tests; triage's phone calls; formulates a plan of care. Plans and implements treatment, teaching and/or support to patients and families. Provides consultation to other health and allied professionals to collaboratively assess patient care needs and treatment plans. Other duties as assigned.
Must be a graduate from an accredited physician assistant program.
California Physician Assistant (PA) license.
Current PA Certification from NCCPA.
BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
Minimum two (2) years of recent PA experience required. Experience must include ambulatory experience in a specialty practice. ENT, Otolaryngology, Head & Neck, and/or Surgical Ambulatory experience highly preferred. Due to advanced practice credentialing eligibility, clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years gained through school or work experience.
Knowledge of medical record documentation procedures and patient confidentiality. Writing skills to prepare clear medical reports, laboratory data and progress notes, as well as policies, procedures and protocols for patient care management.
Ability to manage own patient load.
Ability to analyze and interpret medical data.
Demonstrated proficiency in various computer software packages, including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical equipment.
Experience in recruiting for a clinical protocol and screening potentially eligible patients.
Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of data collection, entry, and analysis.
Experience in collecting accurate patient data.
Ability to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills, using tact and diplomacy in order to interact effectively with all levels of professional staff and a diversity of patients. Skill in appropriate telephone techniques.
Experience with pediatric patients.
Knowledge of UCSD policies and procedures.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
