1. Establishes and maintains working relationship with assigned Principal Investigators and their relevant laboratory and office staff, developing a reputation as the primary point-person and trusted advisor for all related matters. 2. Assists in all aspects of protocol, modification, and renewal applications including development, pre-review, and during the approval process. 3. Assists new research teams with initiation of their research programs by ensuring for appropriate set-up of activity areas/equipment, personnel training, and protocol development. 4. Participates in post-approval monitoring of research programs by routine, ad-hoc and for-cause assessments of animal activity areas and procedures. 5. Assists research teams with resolution of programmatically-identified or self-identified issues of potential or real compliance items/incidents. 6. Maintains proactive communications with research teams for regulatory/institutional updates and routine check-ins to offer assistance. 7. Provides prompt, professional and thorough response to inquiries from research teams. 8. Keeps current with federal and state regulations and industry best practices for new guidance, updates, or policies and ensures all relevant information is transferred to relevant investigative teams; conducts assessments to ensure such knowledge has been received and is appropriately incorporated into animal research activities. 9. Maintains effective databases and records for PI liaison and posts-approval monitoring activities. 10. Participates in the development and updating of policies and standard operating procedures; Revises such documents as needed in collaboration with the Policy Subcommittee. 11. Advises the Director and Chair of any issues that could impact compliance in the program and develops and implements processes to ensure compliance. 12. May perform others duties as assigned.
Preferred Education: Advanced degree preferred with 7 years of relevant experience in research administration. Laboratory research and/or veterinary clinical experience and familiarity or writing animal research protocols and related funding proposals.
