Position Purpose As part of Pine Technical and Community College's commitment to student success and ongoing institutional effectiveness, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating retention-based outreach and student success initiatives to a diverse student population, specifically first-generation, low income, and historically underrepresented.
This position will coordinate and facilitate campus-wide academic support services through Pine Technical and Community College's Academic Skills Center, and coordinate career services for PTCC students. This position will also develop and coordinate student life events focusing on increasing student engagement at the College. The goal of this position is to enhance student persistence, retention, and completion through academic support services, advising, career preparation, and student engagement activities.
1.Academic Support Services – Coordinate services through PTCC's Academic Skills Center that support developmental education, core courses in general education, and career and technical courses.
Collaborate with PTCC Academic Affairs, program faculty, and college departments to determine appropriate academic support services to increase success, retention, and completion of PTCC students
Coordinate peer tutoring services including; developing and managing the tutoring budget, recruiting, hiring, and training peer tutors, creating tutoring schedules, daily supervision of tutoring staff, and creating and maintaining tutoring handbooks and training materials.
Coordinate, maintain, and promote online academic support services to students, faculty, and staff.
Develop and coordinate student workshops on academic and non-academic topics which foster student success, including time management, study skills, effective note-taking, etc.
Create and implement communication plan/strategy promoting the services of the Academic Skills Center, including developing classroom presentations, direct communication to enrolled students (including PSEO and Concurrent Enrollment students), web communications, and outreach to PTCC faculty and staff.
Assess academic support services offered by tracking student use of services and assessing the effectiveness of peer tutors and other services provided.
Collaborate with PTCC faculty to research and propose new resources, materials, and software to enhance academic support services campus-wide.
Research current trends and use data to improve and enhance academic support services for PTCC students.
Serve as the campus representative for system-level developmental education strategies and student support activities.

2.Provide academic advising to continuing students utilizing knowledge of the current curriculum, tutorial services, financial aid, and community resources to help students reach their educational goals.
Meet with students individually or in groups on a regular basis to monitor academic progress and facilitate students' development of educational goals, academic success strategies, and course planning through intentional advising.
Facilitate and encourage the use of student services areas, e-services and online resources, DARS, and academic/career planning resources/materials with students.
Meet individual student and target group needs by understanding and supporting college-wide services, policies and procedures, and community resources, when appropriate, to include referrals to campus and community resources.

3.Student Life, Engagement, and Outreach
Coordinate student life events on campus, such as but not limited to: Welcome Week and De-Stress Fest, with a goal of increased student engagement, retention, and completion.
Participate in college-wide events such as, but not limited to, new student orientation, Jump Start, advising week, and registration events.
Evaluate and make changes to programs by tracking participation at events and coordinating the creation, distribution, and collection of surveys to determine program impact on retention.
Explore best practices in student activities to initiate new programming through research and outreach to student life peers.
Administer a student leadership/ambassador program.
Serve as advisor to the Student Senate by attending campus, national, regional, and statewide meetings, and provide advice and counsel related to student interests and concerns.
Provide guidance to clubs and advisors on budget spending procedures, facilities use, travel policies, conduct expectations, and facilitate the collection of constitutions, membership lists, reports, etc.
Serve as the liaison between the Student Senate and the college administration, faculty, and staff.

4. Career Services – Lead the development and implementation of programs to support student success in career path clarification and job placement.
Develop and promote services for individuals and groups focused on self-assessment, career decision making, work search techniques, application preparation, and interview skills.
Plan special events such as career fairs and forums that bring PTCC students, alumni, and representatives from the employer community together.
Maintain and promote the usage of the PTCC job board internally and externally.
Develop and evaluate the performance of career services based on identified metrics, including student use of career services, employer postings to the job board, and on-campus recruiting events.

5.College Library and Testing Center Support
Provide coverage in the College library and Testing Center as needed
Priority: Essential Percent of Time: 10%
6. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth function of the college and maintain the reputation of the college as a viable community partner.
Priority: Secondary Percent of Time: 5%
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ANDABILITIES
Associates degree and 2 years of experience in higher education, or related field.
Knowledge of college placement, career and transition programs.
Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Expertise in public speaking and event management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Experience planning and organizing multiple activities and meeting deadlines.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of college student development.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and problem solve to creatively meet the needs of students.
Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Human Resources, counseling, marketing, or other related field
Professional experience in student services and/or student life
Knowledge of national Career Clusters and Pathways
Marketing and public relations skills
Working knowledge with the MnSCU Student Record System (ISRS), services available to students at the college, and college policies
Understanding of the structure of academic programs offered at the college
