Should be a strategic partner and advisor to General Managers and other leaders about opportunities and developments that impact Abbott's reputation and businesses, share insights around external factors impacting business operations.
The candidate should have an ability to manage multiple projects - both internal and external, experience in working with other PR teams, agencies and top tier media. The candidate should have a track record of proven media relationships while managing media coverage.
The candidate should be a strong storyteller and create compelling internal and external content.
Core Job Responsibilities :
Strategy Development: Develop communication strategies for businesses aligned with overall corporate objectives.
Storytelling: Deliver impactful external visibility for Abbott through storytelling. Results should center on Corporate / Enterprise stories, trend stories, business stories, brand stories, reputation building stories and high-impact content
Media Relationships: Cultivate, maintain and develop sound relationships with editors, media and other key external influencers to help build, enhance and protect the company's reputation and drive our business forward. Leverage those relationships to proactively build awareness about Abbott and its offerings through Indian media.
Issues Management: Identify and anticipate issues and develop action plans to address the issue. Collaborate with appropriate functions and counsel leaders on reputation/business impact. Effectively manage issues related to Abbott's business, either neutralizing/keeping Abbott out of coverage, or ensuring Abbott message is delivered in coverage when desired.
Engaging Employees: Support strategic enterprise-wide employee communications, both through consultation and toolkits/templates. Provide support to raise the internal communications capability of the leaders in India.
Driving/Supporting the Business: Deliver communications across India that will build Abbott's competitive advantage, position and market share. Convey stories about Abbott's innovation in India.
Measurement: Set metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal and external communication efforts.
Management Responsibilities :
The candidate reports to the Director and Head of Public Affairs, India. He/She has no personnel reporting to him/her. This role works in a matrixed way with others in India, Regional, Business and HQ PA.
Bachelor's degree required in journalism, public relations, communications, business, marketing or related field.
15years or more work experience in external communications, with a deep understanding of how to use/leverage storytelling and media relations to enhance reputation. At ease in a fast-paced operating environment with numerous, sometimes competing priorities. Ability to set communications priorities and plan editorially.
Multinational experience in Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Bio-tech, Health Technology, FMCG preferred.
Solid understanding of the digital landscape as part of the overall marketing mix, including experience in influencer marketing (consumer and HCP), particularly celebrity/ high profile influencer management. Experience in creation and deployment of successful social media campaigns to meet strategic business objectives is required.
Proven written, verbal, and problem-solving skills and demonstrated success in developing and executing communications that impact reputation. Previous PR experience/responsibilities include: translating complicated topics into consumer-friendly stories, media strategy/relationships, social media and PR program development.
PR agency background preferred
Understanding of Indian market dynamics and U.S. business practices necessary
Proven record in managing media and editor relations; stakeholder relations; business, brand and corporate communications; and issues/crisis management in a collaboration-oriented environment
Strong critical thinking skills; ability to synthesize complex information, apply learnings, build strategic business plans and be able to work in a matrix environment are required competencies.
Experience working with senior leaders. Ability to influence and build relationships and trust with internal clients, media and other key stakeholders.
Experience overseeing PR agencies and leading cross-functional workgroups.
