The Product Specialist supports the delivery of the alternative investments in the U.S. to both U.S. domestic investors and Non U.S. offshore investors. The individual who holds the role will be expected to demonstrate deep knowledge of the breadth of the Private Bank offering, building and leveraging networks and relationships with the Private Bank's global product team (IPG) and HSBC Alternative Investments (HAIL), use these to drive net sales of the alternatives offering and increase penetration as a proportion of overall assets. The individual will be expected to understand the different marketing and fund structuring regulations for both U.S. domestic investors and Non U.S. offshore investors. The individual will be expected to structure all aspects of alternative investment offerings, including dialogues and negotiations with fund managers as well as identify and source investment opportunities
Here's what you might expect on a typical day:
The core of the role will be to support Relationship Managers (RM) and Investment Counselors (IC) across the existing product offering and spearhead new launches and product initiatives. As such, success will be determined by the ability to grow revenue, net sales and increase participation and penetration through the business.
The role will combine both an internal wholesaling component and also client-facing activity. The former will include a focus on training, individual RM and IC support, active engagement in the enhancement and delivery of the marketing support and product initiatives. The latter will involve working alongside RMs and ICs in articulating the alternatives offering in front of clients.
The role will work closely with internal partners within the Private Bank and across Wealth and Personal Banking to deliver training and offerings that meet local client needs, ensuring these are in compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
The role will develop relationships with the alternatives platform vendor and various fund managers to enhance the product capabilities for U.S. domestic onshore investors.
As part of the broader Private Bank, US IPG team, the role is expected to work in a collaborative manner with other relevant product specialists across the region, driving synergies and executing product initiatives together.
Given the nature of the role, previous experience with both U.S. onshore and offshore alternative investments, asset raising and managing internal stakeholders in a Private Bank environment is key to success.
