The Soy Nutrition Institute (SNI) Global is seeking a full-time executive director to lead the organization. SNI Global is a 501(c)(6) non-profit corporation that funds research and shares evidence-based information on the impact of soybeans and soy ingredients for human health and nutrition. The organization is looking for an experienced non-profit executive to manage the day-to-day activities of the organization. This position reports to the SNI Global Board of Directors.
The Soy Nutrition Institute is currently undergoing a transition. Since its founding in 2004, the organization has been supported by contract professionals performing under grants provided by the United Soybean Board. The SNI Board of Directors has decided to reorganize and expand the organization, which includes the hiring of a full-time executive director. The expanded organization is expected to have a small staff while continuing to utilize the services of contractors.

The duties of the executive director will include overall strategic management of the organization, including staff and contractor management and support of the Board of Directors in establishing short- and long-term goals. The duties of the position include the following:
Overall Strategic Management
Advise the Board of Directors regarding policy and provide professional advice and direction.
Support the Board in developing long-term strategic plans that support SNI Global’s vision, mission and goals and work with staff and contractors on implementation.
Actively manage and participate in development and fundraising efforts for the organization, including the seeking of grants from federal government agencies and private foundations.
Stay abreast of developments and changes within the industry related to soybeans and soy ingredients for human consumption.
Stay abreast of developments and changes within the field of human health and nutrition, as it relates to soy.
Foster and maintain key partnerships with the United Soybean Board and with other allied organizations, as may benefit the organization and the industry.
Prepare budgets for approval by SNI Global Board of Directors.
Provide oversight of preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring revenue and expenses are in line with budget assumptions.
Prepare quarterly and year-end financial forecasting reports.
Ensure that an annual audit is conducted by a Certified Public Accountant and that tax returns are filed.
Oversee annual dues invoice preparation and collections.
Oversee and encourage vibrant development, funding and grant-writing activities.
Manage the adoption of Board policies.
Implement policies and procedures established by the Board.
Monitor the ongoing performance of all administrative staff and contractors and provide timely feedback for improving performance and completing annual performance reviews.
Ensure the administrative staff and contractors are adhering to SNI Global’s bylaws and policies.
Ensure overall staff and contractor development and training with emphasis on team management and coordination of activities.
Oversee planning, development and management of meetings for regular members, board of directors, and scientific advisors.
Spearhead the effort to build the organization through recruitment of new members and retention of current membership.
Manage staff resources to ensure the timely response and handling of all member inquiries.
Oversee member communications, including timely and appropriate dissemination of information and use of available communications tools.
Publish annual report of SNI activities.
Monitor media activity via all relevant channels and manage media relations including proactive development of statements on key issues and responses to media inquiries.
The successful candidate must have senior leadership experience with a similar non-profit organization(s). The candidate must have outstanding communications skills, strong leadership qualities, and good planning and organizational skills.
SNI Global will rely on multiple sources of revenue including grant funding from organizations like the United Soybean Board, membership funds from strategic partner members, corporate members, and allied associate members, and additional grant funding from government and foundations. The executive director should have experience that demonstrates their ability to generate revenue in varied and innovative ways.
Prior experience with staff management and project management is required.
A bachelor’s degree is required. Advanced degrees are preferred.
