The incumbent is a staff psychologist providing intense organizational consultative services to the Director and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center. Incumbent works in the areas of competency modeling and assessment, organizational development and cultural transformation, report and statistical interpretation, communications strategy and planning, instructional systems design and implementation, program evaluation, and training and development. The incumbent serves as the authoritative source and principal advisor in the area of organizational development psychology. Duties: The incumbent partners successfully with the ELT and service leadership to accelerate implementation of change to build leadership talent and fuel future growth, enhance organizational performance, improve the patient experience, and accelerate learning across the organization. The incumbent offers continuous assessment services to the organization and to employees including expert knowledge of psychometrics, 360-degree assessment, organizational culture, simulations, coaching and mentoring, training and evaluation and the implementation of individual development plans. Offers process consultation to leadership groups and work groups. The incumbent assists in the development, implementation, training, maintenance, and process improvement of a wide range of healthcare programs and initiatives. This includes the ability to help others build their change capability. Lean training is highly desirable. The employee assumes responsibility for planning, coordinating, and carrying out projects and informs the supervisor of progress as appropriate. The incumbent will be the system expert on patient satisfaction, employee engagement, and service excellence, while always cognizant of maintaining a culture of discovery, superior outcomes, safety, learning and distinguished clinical care. This inspirational, yet practical leader plays a pivotal role in the experience of care for every internal and external customer, both patients and staff, served by Overton Brooks VA Medical Center. The position will work closely with the VISN office to accomplish VHA and VISN goals throughout the facility and acts as a liaison to represent the facility capabilities within the VISN, VHA, and VA nationally, as well as other government agencies and the greater community. The position has oversight and responsibility for enhancing and continually improving the overall experience of both patients and staff, the ultimate "customers" of the organization. S/he clearly defines the optimal experience for patients and staff, including the behavioral changes necessary to achieve cultural transformation throughout the entire organization. S/he utilizes coaching, best practices, and collaboration to improve service excellence throughout the organization and works to share and spread best practices. Works to ensure alignment of people, processes, systems and rewards across the organization. Identifies and presents key issues impacting the customer experience for ELT discussion and decision making which will include findings, barriers to success and progress toward results. Serves as the subject matter expert for service excellence, maintaining an active understanding of current thinking and innovative interventions/programs regarding the patient and staff experience both locally and nationally. Acts as expert on special projects, advising top management on major office issues. Conducts or participates in complex management studies and reviews. Performs additional duties, as assigned.
