Drake University's Office of Admission seeks a dynamic individual to join our team! We are hiring for an Admission Counselor to manage an assigned recruitment territory and assist in achieving the student recruitment and enrollment objectives for the university. The Admission Counselor will represent Drake University and its John Dee Bright College to a variety of constituents including prospective students and families, school counselors, community organization leaders, and others. The Admission Counselor will support students interested in the two-year or four-year degree pathways through the entire recruitment process, from inquiry to matriculation. The Admission Counselor will implement recruitment strategies that serve traditional, non-traditional, and underrepresented students. Candidates should have outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, ability to think creatively, and a drive to meet established goals. A current driver's license and the ability to be insured by the university's insurance carrier required. Review of applications will begin immediately. Especially valuable is experience working with those traditionally underrepresented in private higher education.
Manage assigned recruitment territory to achieve enrollment goals for Drake University and John Dee Bright College. Responsibilities include recruitment travel in territory, building relationships with various constituencies in the territory, and report generation. The admission counselor will also assist in the development, promotion, and execution of a variety of admission recruitment events and activities, both in-person and virtually. As a recruiter for the local market, this includes managing the registration process for Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO). Additionally, the admission counselor will participate in the evaluation of admission and scholarship applications from their territory.
Manage communication with potential students for Drake University and John Dee Bright College within assigned recruitment territory. This will include the creation of messaging, receipt and response to phone calls, emails, social media, text messages, and other information requests. Additionally responsible for outreach and communication with prospective students and families, as well as school counselors and community advocates.
Meet with prospective students and families during visits to Drake University. These meetings may occur in either individual or group settings. Coordinate additional appointments with John Dee Bright College faculty, as necessary.
Assist in the development of and participate in activities related to public relations and recruitment of prospective students or special groups visits, particularly for local underrepresented and first-generation students. Coordinate interactions with area organizations, including high schools, service organizations, clubs, etc., to create and maintain admission pathways. In addition, provide an evaluation of admission/marketing plans, policies and strategies for recruitment to both two- and four-year programs.
Create standard and ad-hoc reports and queries from admission/registration databases. Use quantitative data to make informed decisions about territory.
