The Office of Financial Planning & Analysis is part of the Business and Financial Services department within the division of Finance and Administrative Affairs. Business & Financial Services manages campus financial resources, including advising campus leadership on business decisions and how they affect the integrity and overall health of UWM’s financial assets. The core functions of the Office of Financial Planning & Analysis are to oversee and coordinate the development of UWM’s annual operating budget, provide financial management reporting and perform financial analyses to support campus strategic operational and financial decisions. What You’ll Do:
This position provides a unique opportunity to work jointly in the College of Nursing (40%), Zilber School of Public Health (20%) and the Office of Financial Planning & Analysis (40%).
Under the general direction of the Dean of the College of Nursing (CON) and the Dean of the Zilber School of Public Health (ZSPH) this position serves as budget and fiscal manager and is responsible for the direct management of the day-to-day business and financial activities for CON and ZSPH, including annual budget development, budget management, and oversight of CON and ZSPH finances. This role requires interaction with university administration, business officers, directors, and managers, as well as CON and ZSPH administrators, faculty and staff. This position has supervisory responsibility for 1.6 FTE financial specialists in CON and 1 FTE financial specialist in ZSPH. As budget and fiscal manager for CON and ZSPH, this position serves as a member of each unit’s administrative leadership group.
Office of Financial Planning & Analysis: Under the general supervision of the Director, this position serves as one of a team of financial analysts in the Office of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), part of the Business and Financial Services department within the division of Finance and Administrative Affairs. This position provides analytical support for the core functions of FP&A: development of the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee’s (UWM) annual operating budget; management reporting in support of UWM’s financial reporting activities; and preparation of financial analyses for campus leadership to support strategic operational and financial decisions.
This position requires complex problem solving and decision-making skills that have a direct impact on the fiscal integrity of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the College of Nursing and Zilber School of Public Health.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or equivalent combination of professional work experience with financial data management, at analysis and/or budget planning
Professional work experience performing directly related work within a similar function
Advanced degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
3+ years of professional work experience performing directly related work within a similar function.
Experience as a proven senior executive in a higher education, foundation, government, or business organization.
Directly related experience in a higher education environment.
A track record of collaboration and accomplishment advancing initiatives and fostering change with multiple stakeholders.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of PC-based spreadsheet applications, including macros, graphics, and pivot tables.
