To present a high degree of initiative and judgment in responding to individual needs of students and applying Student Financial Aid policy and federal regulations to case work. To serve as a liaison between the financial-aid advisor for an assigned caseload of student aid recipients in the office of Student Financial Aid and other campus departments as well as parents and outside offices. Perform work in ways that contribute to the university's successful achievement of enrollment goals.
Review information submitted by financial aid applicants concerning Satisfactory Academic Progress, Special Circumstances Reviews, and Dependency changes, and determine appropriate action on these requests. Revise the need analysis documents as needed based on the review of special circumstance or dependency changes and recalculate the student's eligibility for aid, or make a financial aid award in the case of a Satisfactory Academic Progress Approval. Review assigned reports. Make financial aid awards, review simulated awards for accuracy and adjust existing awards per student requests and eligibility. Assist students and families in person through scheduled appointments. Assist students at the front counter, over the phone, and respond to email. Performs other duties assigned.
Bachelor's degree. Two (2) years of experience in student financial aid, student personnel, or related area in a post-secondary institution or the equivalent experience. Experience with PeopleSoft.
Must demonstrate a strong customer focus with excellent writing and oral skills. Ability to communicate complex information simply, both verbally and in writing; analytical and mathematical skills along with excellent organization, prioritization and interpersonal skills. Must be able to collaborate well with team members and perform work independently. Must be timely, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and possess patience, tact, and an ability to function effectively with a broad constituency. Ability to exercise good judgment, work under pressure and deadlines, and carry out multiple tasks required. Must demonstrate a high level of discretion while handling confidential and sensitive information. Computer literate and skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PeopleSoft and Image Now. Must be comfortable navigating complex computer databases and demonstrate an ability to learn and adapt quickly to change, especially with technology, financial aid process and/or workflow.
