Office of Student and Career Advancement Services’ (OSCAS) Mission: To recruit and retain a diverse student body by providing quality academic and career advising, developing committed alumni, and advancing leaders in the nursing profession who are lifelong learners.
Position Overview: The Coordinator leads all admissions and recruitment efforts for pre-licensure programs - the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Nursing programs, including managing all pre-licensure admissions policies and procedures. The staff member will also work directly with current students in the Nursing Ambassador Program. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student and Career Advancement Services/Pre-Licensure Programs Coordinator.
Recruitment and Admissions Management 60%
Manage all phases of recruitment, admissions, transition and enrollment cycles for the BSN and MN programs •Collaborate on the development and coordination of admissions and progression processes for School of Nursing programs: applications, correspondence and transcripts •Coordinate, manage and gather statistics for degree program students using Slate CRM, UM Reports, NursingCAS and Oracle databases •Remain current on updates to the databases, systems and undergraduate and graduate policies and procedures for dissemination to prospective and enrolling student populations • Verify application completion, process student communication and maintain files, as needed • Serve as the contact for student requests for admission and enrollment information regarding SoN programs through phone, email, presentations, events and college fairs. • Evaluate prerequisites and advise applicants using systems such as Transferology • Evaluate and provide preliminary decisions on BSN and MN admission applications using the respective evaluation and application tools • Develop, create and implement recruitment communication plans, in coordination with the Assistant Director, Director and Strategic Communications, for the BSN and MN program, which include email campaigns, marketing materials and Slate CRM management. • Work directly with academic advisors on the Rochester Early Assurance program and process for admissions and transition • Partner with the Coordinator of School of Nursing and Campus System Partnerships to ensure MN recruitment strategies are consistent and effective
Program Development and Implementation- 30% •Lead the management and utilization of Slate CRM • Evaluate and assess recruitment programs and events to determine ongoing effectiveness and efficiency • Manage all prospective pre-licensure individual and group visits through a personalized and high standard process, which includes physical and virtual information sessions and commitment events • Support student workers who assist with admissions, marketing, communication and orientation tasks • Oversee the Nursing Ambassadors program, which includes developing content and interviewing, selecting and supervising the ambassadors • Assist with interviews, selection, and training of the Pre-Licensure Student Workers and First Year Mentors • Assist the Director with the annual assessment plan relating to specific programs and events, as well as comprehensive student services. • Assist with parent information sessions during new student orientation • Assist with programming for pre-licensure students, which includes College Day and the Nursing Living and Learning Community. • Collaborate with the Graduate Intern for Student and Career Development to promote and implement programs and events related to pre-licensure students. • Work closely with School of Nursing’s Alumni and Development team to link students with their initiatives and programs. • Guide and collaborate with all OSCAS staff members to ensure a team-oriented, student-centered programs and services are created and implemented.
Policies and Special Projects- 10% •Assist the Director of Student and Career Advancement Services with a variety of initiatives as assigned, such as: serve as a liaison for OSCAS with numerous departments and programs, serve on department, school-wide and University-wide committees and groups (such as the Undergraduate Admission and Progression committee, Collegiate Admissions and Transfer Topics); contribute to advising and student service program needs; engage in ongoing professional development • Manage all BSN policies and procedures and work with the Assistant Director and Director to update and bring to committees for approval • Work directly with Strategic Communications on all marketing and communication related initiatives • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree plus two years of related experience or the equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling six years • Demonstrated commitment to work effectively with a diverse student population • Must be able to support and work effectively with a diverse student body • Excellent counseling and mentoring skills • Experience developing, organizing and coordinating student-related programs and events, for both current and prospective students • Demonstrated excellence in the following areas: o oral and written communication skills o time management and organizational skills o computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and database manipulation o demonstrated ability to disseminate detailed information using a high level of interpersonal skills to work with students, faculty and staff o ability to work independently as well as to work collaboratively with a team within a department, a School/College or in the larger university o ability to multi-task and display strong attention to detail and problem solving skills. o ability to handle confidential information and materials o ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working in an academic environment with a particular focus on student services • Experience working with Slate CRM and PeopleSoft student records systems • Experience creating and interpreting policies/procedures and communicating these to various constituents • Experience creating content and strategy for marketing and communication-related projects, specifically those for recruitment purposes
