Provide leadership of and strategic direction for a comprehensive employer and alumni relations strategy within the Knowlton Center. Focus on developing and stewarding strong relationships with employers that result in internship and post-college employment opportunities for Denison students and recent graduates. Mobilize the expertise and experience of alumni and parents to assist students and young alumni as they pursue those opportunities.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead the Employer and Alumni Relations Team in identifying, cultivating and stewarding relationships with for-profit, nonprofit, and public sector employers to facilitate career opportunities for students and recent graduates.
In partnership with Alumni & Family Engagement, recruit and build relationships with alumni and parent volunteers to 1) help students as they explore career fields and/or prepare for the internship and job search process 2) introduce Denison to their employers.
Work collaboratively with on-campus partners including faculty members and other administrators to identify additional opportunities to engage employers and alumni.
Serve as a member of the Center's 3-person leadership team. Partner closely with the Director of Career Communities & Coaching to engage students throughout their career development process, assess student programming and outcomes, and drive other Knowlton Center initiatives.
Identify and cultivate relationships with employers who foster a diverse and inclusive workspace. Help potential employers understand how to identify and eliminate bias in the recruiting process.
Research and stay informed on local, regional and national hiring practices, employment trends and other labor-related issues and share that information across the Knowlton Center and Denison Launch Lab teams.
Develop ongoing marketing strategies and materials to bring greater visibility of the college to relevant employers and industries. Partner with the Denison Launch Lab team to build new relationships with employers.
Provide leadership of programs and technologies that connect students and recent graduates with the extended Denison community for career exploration activities, events, and referrals.
Ensure that all relevant data regarding employer outreach, alumni and parent engagement, and outcomes related to those activities are collected and analyzed at regular intervals. Develop tools, processes, and metrics to support ongoing strategic efforts to grow employer and alumni engagement.
Identify ways to maximize the efforts of alumni leadership, affinity, and identity groups to help students and recent graduates. These groups include but are not limited to: Board of Trustees, the President's Board of Advisors, Alumni Council, Varsity D Board, Family Leadership Council, Black Alumni Association, along with regionally-based alumni clubs.
Serve as liaison to key campus offices including but not limited to Alumni and Family Engagement and Institutional Advancement. Ensure the success of the Center's and Institutional Advancement's stewardship of alumni, employers, and other friends of Denison by providing useful, accurate, and timely information they need.
Perform other duties as required.
Bachelor's Degree. Minimum of eight years of related experience in higher education, for-profit, or nonprofit settings.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience building relationships with key constituents in a broad range of industries/fields.
Ability to travel 15-20% of the time, locally, regionally and across the U.S. Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by the College.
Strong strategic and project management skills. Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to produce and present polished presentations to a variety of constituents including: employers, alumni, parents, and students
Evidence of achievement as an empowering and energizing team leader. Commitment to the mission of a liberal arts college. Experience in employer relations, recruiting/talent acquisition, fund-raising, or business development/sales. Graduate degree in higher education, business administration, or closely-related field. Experience motivating and managing volunteers.
