1.Serve as a resource for the college in the areas of course transfer, program requirements, appeals, exceptions and course prerequisites.
Determine and maintain transfer course equivalencies and articulations in DARS and Transferology.
Responsible for evaluating incoming transcripts, awarding credit as appropriate and assisting in the resolution of credit transfer issues.
Assist students, faculty and staff with interpretation of DARS reports, Transferology and Student Planner.
Responsible for completing the annual process of updating transfer equivalency tables for general education curriculum changes at all Minnesota State institutions.
Provide advising, training and process guidance to students, program faculty, academic advisors, and staff on matters related to transfer resources and the use of various transfer-related software including ISRS, DARS, Transferology, Student Planner and College Source.
2.Ensure college data integrity, reliability and accuracy of student records, and confidentiality of student information required by FERPA.
Maintain a thorough understanding of college policy, procedures, programs, curriculum, and services to give accurate information concerning admission, financial aid, registration, and progress towards graduation and/or transfer.
Accurately complete the prerequisite checking process when scheduled and assist the registrar with problem solving student related issues.
Collaborate with other staff and departments on updating and revising document imaging processes, workflows and eForms.
Communicate, interpret, and implement academic policies, processes, and procedures effectively with and through stakeholders.
Assist with the annual review process assuring accurateness of program plans, DARS, course lists, and program sheets.
3.Provide educational advising to students to assist students in the selection of appropriate developmental and academic courses, in obtaining tutorial assistance, and in participating in campus activities to help them make a successful transition from home to campus life.
Facilitate use of the student services center, online resources, Minnesota career information system resources and other academic/career planning resources/materials so that students are able to identify experiential opportunities that will enhance their success at entering their chosen career field.
Provide assessment preparation resources and understand and interpret assessment scores for course selection using Riverland assessment chart or for counselor or Adult Learning (ABE) referrals.
Resolve problems related to registration and their Riverland student record.
Work directly with students transferring to Riverland by providing advising for all program majors and Minnesota State Transfer Curriculum requirements to provide information to student in making appropriate career and program major decisions.
Interpret Riverland, Minnesota State, and federal policies and guidelines and translate them into advising procedures, processes, and services while troubleshooting and problem solving issues with students to overcome achievement barriers.
4.Provide leadership and coordination of the graduation process.
Create a promotional plan to inform students, faculty and staff of the Application for Graduation process.
Review program requirements for each student to ensure graduation requirements are met and the integrity of the college and its academic programs is maintained.
Perform the awarding of degrees/diplomas/certificates and appropriate distinctions.
Correspond to students, Registrar, Faculty and Academic Advisors of students that are deficient in program requirements.
Recommend degree/program requirement exceptions and advise students of petition options.
Responsible for certifying program completion for Nursing, Criminal Justice- Law Enforcement, and Cosmetology.
Coordinate Graduation Express, publish dates and deadlines as it pertains to graduation and Commencement.
Co-Chair the Graduation Committee and assist with organizing annual Commencement Ceremony, schedule meetings and create agendas. Schedule dates for administration and marshal walk thru, decorating, and tear down.
Coordinate the Commencement program and responsible for submitting student information.
Participate in college enrollment activities, including representing the college at community events and partnership building opportunities, orienting prospective and new students, and participating in new student registration activities so that prospective and new students receive accurate information, student admissions.
Associate Degree and two years of business, accounting or administrative office work experience.
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse and traditionally under-served backgrounds with varied needs.
Computer software applications and systems sufficient to manage and query data and create business correspondence, reports and training presentations.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Human relations/customer service sufficient to actively listen to and understand students' needs and provide accurate information and appropriate alternatives, meet quality of service needs, and evaluate student satisfaction.
Bachelor's Degree plus two or more years of business, accounting or administrative office work experience.
Experience in working with student record systems, degree auditing software, student info document imaging, and related specialty software, such as ISRS, DARS, ImageNow, Right Now.
Two years of related work experience in admissions, advising or registration.
Knowledge of college policies and procedures, programs and curriculum, services, and resources for admissions, financial aid, records and registration and student life to assist applicants and students in making sound educational and career decisions.
