This senior level administrative position in the College of Education will provide oversight and leadership in the area of academic affairs, graduate programs and student support, and international programs. This position reports to the Dean and will work closely with the Dean, DEOs, and Associate Deans. The Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs will collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff and students. One fiscal year (12 month) renewable appointment beginning July 1, 2021.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee the promotion and tenure process
Administer faculty awards
Implement and oversee faculty development programs, and provide leadership for the new faculty mentor group, including programming, new faculty orientation, and mentorship opportunities
Oversee faculty reviews
Review policies and procedures related to faculty and graduate programs
Serve as primary contact for harassment investigations and conflict resolution
Provide leadership on policy and procedure implementation related to faculty
Lead groups or ad hoc committees to establish new policies and procures and lead implementation, i.e. research track, instructional track
Lead and coordinate program reviews (i.e., graduate program reviews as requested by graduate college)
Oversight of the APR/EPR faculty databases
Provide leadership to departments by assisting DEOs and program coordinators with collegiate curricular issues including new program development and implementation, and program modification
Support the College of Education's ongoing partnership with an external online program management provider; oversee the development and implementation of new programs within this partnership
Oversee centers associated with graduate programs, as assigned
Serve as DEO for interdepartmental courses
Provide professional development opportunites for graduate students
Oversee graduate student, graduate assistant, and post-doctoral policies and procedures.
Oversee the Education Studies and Human Relations major
Lead the development of additional non-licensure majors as needed
Oversee policies and procedures for non-licensure majors
Professional Development Programs:
Oversee the Baker Teacher Leader Center
Serve as College of Education administrative sponsor for UI LEAD (Leadership Education, Assessment, and Development) staff leadership program
Assist with graduate student recruitment
Oversee the development of programs for international students
Supervise and evaluate the work of staff and faculty, as assigned
Serve as liaison from the College of Education to the Graduate College, Associate Provost for Faculty, International Programs, the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Associate Deans for Graduate Programs, and Associate Deans for Faculty. Serve as chief academic officer of the College of Education in the absence of the dean and, in this role, attend Deans Council meetings and other key meetings across campus.
