The Maine Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) provide comprehensive business management advice and education to Maine entrepreneurs and small business owners through a network of professional business advisors. There is currently an opening for a Director of Finance & Grant Management in Portland, Maine. This is a full-time, grant funded position.
The Director of Finance & Grant Management acts as the Maine SBDC financial manager and controller and is responsible for the day?to?day Maine SBDC financial operations. This position is the Maine SBDC fiscal and grant/contract monitor with primary responsibility to ensure contract and grant preparation and compliance, reporting, budget preparation and control.
A few of this position’s essential functions are:
Executes as finance manager and controller, responsible for all Maine SBDC financial operations.
Maintains the Maine SBDC accounting systems and USM accounts for the program.
Executes contract and grant preparation and compliance, reporting, budget preparation and control.
Manages writing and preparation of proposals and similar documents for Maine SBDC’s funding partners and for collaborating partnerships.
Develops, writes and prepares contracts, subcontracts and memoranda of understandings as required and/or specified in USM/Maine SBDC agreements with various funding entities.
The position is currently operating remotely using virtual meeting technology. Moving forward, the position will be based in a Portland office with flexible scheduling and the opportunity for some remote work.

Master’s Degree in business or related field and 5 years relevant experience in increasingly complex duties in administration of federally and/or state?sponsored program and/or small business (>20 employees) financial management.
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 10 years relevant experience in increasingly complex duties in administration of federally and/or state?sponsored program and/or small business (>20 employees) financial management.
