The Rutgers School of Public Health invites applications for an Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Community Engagement. The successful applicant will be expected to oversee the academic components of practice and experiential learning for the MPH and DrPH degree programs; develop meaningful relationships with external organizations on behalf of the School, contribute to the teaching mission; represent the School on select local and state health-related external committees/taskforces/etc.; mentor MPH and doctoral students; and actively engage with the communities we serve, directed by the following mission:
To advance health and well-being and prevent disease throughout New Jersey, the United States, and the world, by preparing students as public health leaders, scholars, and practitioners; conducting public health research and scholarship; engaging collaboratively with communities and populations; and actively advocating for policies, programs, and services through the lens of equity and social justice.
The Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Community Engagement will be responsible for, but is not limited to:
leading the Office of Practice, including supervising the practice and experiential learning staff and hosting the annual practice day events.
developing relationships with external organizations that advance all aspects of the School's mission.
ensuring the academic programming for practice aligns with the CEPH criteria related to practice, service and workforce development, and enhances the skills of the next generation of public health professionals.
establishing relationships and coordinating opportunities for practice experiences; community engagement initiatives; and/or research and scholarship opportunities that are in partnership with organizations seeking to improve the health of the people of New Jersey, the United States, and globally.
supporting student learning and success related to practice that attend to the diversity of student life experiences and with regard to gender identity, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, or nation of birth.
working with department chairs as well as the academic affairs and student affairs leadership teams to address curricular and academic issues related to practice experiences as well as career connections; and
teaching in the MPH, DrPH and/or PhD degree programs.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Successful applicants will have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) and a demonstrated record of scholarship as appropriate to their faculty rank. A record of successful extramural funding as an independent researcher is requisite for tenure/tenure track lines.
