A native French speaker with a graduate degree is preferred
A bachelor’s degree in education or language instruction
A demonstrated fluency in the French language is required
Possess a track record of successfully teaching students at the upper and middle school level
Firm understanding of academic, social, and emotional development
Passion for the outdoors and experiential learning is preferred
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the French Teacher position:
The French teacher will need to create a positive and vibrant learning environment for students. The preferred candidate will have a strong desire to see their craft improve and evolve. The ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset and share their expertise openly with others.
The French teacher candidate will:
Teach 1-2 sections of middle school French
Teach 2-3 sections of upper school French, including AP section
Prepare to teach advanced-level French Literature
Serve as a upper school student advisor
Design and lead experiential education seminars (approximately 15 instructional days)
Supervise students during study halls, recess and/or lunch
Willing or interested in assuming responsibilities including Music, Arts, Athletic Coaching
Shape the lives of young children by using best practices.
Be able to collaborate effectively.
Use variety, creativity, and flexibility to motivate and inspire young learners.
Facilitate the development of a positive class culture that supports learning and personal growth
Appreciate and support varying learning abilities
Be emotionally stable and able to handle stress well.
Provide regular and useful student feedback and maintain assessment records
Communicate with students and families on a regular basis.
Know the developmental and academic abilities of one’s students.
Effectively coordinate with classroom teachers.
Perform various student supervisory duties.
Adhere to the standards described in the Employee Handbook.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
This position is a full position with a salary of $40,000 and higher annually based upon skills and experience.
