The Admissions Counselor supports efforts to identify, recruit, evaluate and enroll students on the UMN Morris campus, reporting to the UMN Morris Director of Admissions. Job Duties
Design and execute a recruitment plan tailored for an assigned territory to meet individual recruitment goals and objectives. The assigned territory will require limited off-campus travel.
Participate in recruitment and enrollment activities, including: open houses, regional presentations, orientation programs, regional and national college fairs, scholarship days, virtual events.
Coordinate hybrid recruitment efforts by determining participation in virtual recruiting events and assigning proper coverage.
Meet with prospective students and parents to provide individual consultation on educational options and alternatives.
Independently review applications and make admission recommendations based on academic requirements and program choice compatibility.
Develop and maintain communication with prospective students and parents throughout the recruitment cycle. This includes telephone/text/email outreach and responding to incoming inquiries.
Serve as the liaison between the Office of Admissions and the Athletics Department at UMN Morris.
Model and promote respect and effective partnerships in advancing UMN Morris efforts to build an inclusive, respectful campus community.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The UMN Morris Office of Admissions is seeking an Admissions Counselor. This is a 12 month, 75% time appointment. As part of a new collaboration, this position includes managing a recruitment territory that includes recruitment for both UMN Morris and UMN Crookston.
At least two years of previous experience in college admission, recruitment, or related areas
Valid driver's license
Demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to the value of a liberal arts education
Demonstrated commitment to building a diverse, inclusive campus and living community
Excellent public speaking and writing skills, and strong organizational skills
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Demonstrated commitment to recruiting a diverse student population
Experience as undergraduate admissions intern, student ambassador or student volunteer
Ability to work under pressure, in collaboration with a team, and with a minimum of direct supervision
