The Manager, Contracts & Negotiations/Global Sourcing will lead the team responsible for providing comprehensive global contract support for sourcing activities. This effort will be directed primarily toward the Strategic Sourcing Organization, but will extend to sourcing activities of the businesses and other functions. The role calls for an experienced contracts manager who supports the company's strategic initiatives by leading execution of strategic agreements that assure compliance, facilitate growth, and mitigate risk. The role also requires a people manager dedicated to developing a highly effective team while enhancing the performance, growth, and job satisfaction of its members. Proficiency in software and other technology agreements is required. The selected candidate will report directly to the General Counsel, Contracts and Technology Transactions, location to be determined based on business needs and the legacy location of the preferred candidate.
Provide contract support for supplier transactions, both as an individual player as well as leader of a team;
Support SSO clients and team members in negotiating agreements while being open to taking the lead on negotiating, as well as documenting contracts related to major initiatives;
Review major agreements and provide advice regarding escalated concerns;
Train clients on relevant legal and contractual issues; communicate commercial activities with legal implications to peers within Office of General Counsel;
Collaborate with SSO and legal department - particularly commercial and intellectual property attorneys and G&IS - to discern risk tolerance and manage risk related to opportunities and engagements, particularly in connection with new business models;
Understand and translate business strategies into execution;
Work with interdisciplinary project and transaction teams, including other peers and functions within the Office of General Counsel;
Focus on execution, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Typically requires minimum of eight years of contracts management or other applicable legal experience;
Law degree from a US accredited Law School or equivalent, along with being licensed to practice law in the state or country of your domicile is preferred;
Experience handling software and other technology agreements;
Orientation toward execution and business results; sufficient maturity, experience, and business acumen to become a trusted advisor to and an integral member of the SSO management team;
Sound contract and business judgment; ability to assess risk and balance legal and business considerations;
Excellent communication skills;
Experience managing and improving processes and driving continuous improvement and takes initiative to solve problems;
