YSS is seeking a full-time Clinical Supervisor for our Ames location. The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and/or administrative supervision to one or more other Mental Health Therapists and/or Addiction Counselors. This position serves as a leadership role within the agency providing expertise and input to assure the stability and growth of behavioral health services. In addition, the Clinical Coordinator provides individual, family, and group therapy to youth and families through a variety of therapeutic modalities in order to alleviate identified behavioral and/or substance use problems.
Provides leadership and consultation to help in the stabilization and growth of outpatient services.
Meets consistently with the Director of Behavioral Health as a member of leadership team.
Maintains credentialed status to provide clinical supervision to temporarily licensed therapists in at least the Coordinator’s area of therapeutic training.
Assists the Director of Behavioral Health/Designee with the development and implementation of quality assurance and utilization review policies and procedures.
Oversees implementation and ongoing fidelity of evidence-based practices.
Meet with assigned supervisees regularly providing support for their professional growth, career development, and/or disciplinary intervention as deemed necessary.
Provide trainings to other departments or within the community as determined necessary.
Provides therapeutic treatment in individual, group, and family sessions.
Through the assessment process, determines the youth/family strengths, need for treatment, need for additional assessment, and makes appropriate referrals for additional services and supports.
Establishes with each youth/family an individualized and client-centered treatment plan designed to guide the therapeutic work with youth/family.
Documents all client interactions as per agency using proficient computer skills.
Meets agency established expectations for the average of client services provided in a week/month.
Communicates and collaborates effectively with coworkers, youth, families, and other entities involved in the care and treatment of the identified client.
Advocates for and secures other services, supports, and resources as needed for clients to address identified problem areas.
Participates in required activities to maintain the fidelity of evidence-based practice.
Provides crisis intervention to youth and families as needed, including in emergency situations.
Submits court testimony when appropriate or required.
Handles confidential paperwork with care and discretion.
Shares “on-call” rotation periodically to support after hours and on weekends.
Attends all mandatory meetings and training.
Maintains excellent working relationships within treatment services and with other YSS programs.
Maintains licensure to practice an identified profession in the state of Iowa
Ability to travel to all YSS locations, if needed.
Communicates professionally with proficient English manner both verbally and in writing.
Hears and understands others as they communicate emotions of various intensity.
Maintains the ethics, core values, and expectations of the therapist’s professional organization and that of the agency.
Adheres to all YSS policies and procedures.
A Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, marriage, and family therapy, or psychology with a current independent license to practice the profession in the state of Iowa is required.
Three years of experience providing individual mental health therapy is required.
Previous supervisory experience is desired.
