Hebron Academy is seeking a dynamic, flexible, and forward-thinking Health and Wellness Educator with experience in evidenced-based best practices in Health and Wellness Education, multi-cultural competence, and a strong commitment to experiential learning to join our Student Health Center team for the 2021-2022 School Year. Additionally, this position offers as wide of an exposure as possible to international boarding school life including but not limited to dorm parent, mentor, advisor, and coach.
The Health and Wellness Educator's responsibilities would include:
Developing Health and Wellness education initiatives and curriculum in collaboration with the following departments and programs, under the guidance of the Director of Student Success, Director of Health Services, and the Director of Mental Health and Wellness:
Academic (Health and Wellness Education for grades 6th - PG)
Student Health Center (Wellness Workshops)
Advisory (Health and Wellness discussion guides and activities)
Academic Guidance Center (Mental wellness initiatives and interdisciplinary collaboration to promote growth mindset and improve executive functioning)
Residential Life (May reside in dormitory and engage in dorm parent responsibilities, including coordination of residential wellness curriculum)
Athletics (Holistic support for physical wellness through coaching extra-curricular activities)
Marketing and Development (Support with publicity and parent outreach, collaboration with any grant-writing efforts for increasing financial resources to expand the student health and wellness program)
Further developing prevention curriculum to enrich the health and wellness of the student body, under the supervision of the Director of Mental Health and Wellness
Promoting co-curricular wellness programming (e.g. at school meetings, and through social media)
Providing wellness education resources on myHebron for students, faculty, and parents
Creating wellness content for Weekly Parent Newsletter
Supporting the Mindfulness-Based Concussion Recovery program, including student support and documentation and communication with the Mindfulness-Based Concussion Recovery Team.
Participating in the Tech Wellness Committee, and promoting its programming and initiatives across campus
The ideal candidate would have experience, knowledge, and passion teaching the following areas of Health and Wellness: self-care including hygiene and sanitation, mindfulness-based stress management, nutrition for mental wellness, sleep hygiene, holistic approaches to improve student skills (executive functioning), substance use prevention, boundaries with technology/screen time, sexual health, positive body image, healthy relationships and relationship violence prevention, LGBTQ+ awareness, diversity and social justice issues pertaining to safety in school.
