Wytheville Community College is actively recruiting for an Education Support Specialist III in the Project Aim Grant. This is a federally funded grant position working with low-income, first-generation college students. The continuance of this position from year to year will be based on Project Aim Grant funds. Job Duties: *Work at WCC campus and off-site campus (Galax) on a rotating basis *Assist participants with course selection, promoting Financial Literacy, transfer process and Financial Aid and Scholarship attainment *Provide tutoring in basic computer, developmental English and Math courses for program participants *Develop and facilitate informational workshops to program participants *Assist students in completing the online FAFSA form *Input documentation and generate reports from the Student Support Services database *Distribute and collect Student Support Services applications *Conduct SSS presentations in Orientation classes and other classes when asked *Provide educational and technology assistance to program participants *Assist with the coordination of cultural activities and events *Review and orchestrate Financial Literacy 101 computer program *Other duties as assigned
*Bachelor's degree required in Human Services, Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university; *Ability to assist participants with academic and technical issues including course registration, navigating computer programs, completing financial aid and scholarship applications; *Experience in facilitating workshops; *Ability to provide tutoring in basic computer and developmental English and Math courses; *Experience maintaining confidential files/records; *Ability to perform data entry; *Experience working with disadvantaged students; and *Experience in academic assistance such as advising and assisting with course selection, financial aid, scholarship attainment and the transfer process.
