McKesson's well-regarded Law Department is seeking an experienced healthcare transactional lawyer with regulatory experience to serve as the senior attorney overseeing aspects of McKesson US Pharmaceutical's (US Pharma) manufacturer customer segment, which includes all domestic sourcing and drug distribution contracting with brand, generic and specialty manufacturers, as well as oversight of US Pharma's private label and repackaging businesses, and related government price reporting.
US Pharma supplies pharmaceuticals and other healthcare-related services and technology products to a wide range of retail and institutional pharmacy customers. US Pharma's nation-wide network of distribution centers supplies medication to 1/3 of all health care providers in the United States, and we frequently invest in technology and other systems to enhance the safety and reliability of our core distribution services and technology offerings. US Pharma's relationship with its suppliers is a key component to the success of its business.
Provide routine day-to-day legal support for the manufacturer customer segment, including senior legal support for contract drafting, negotiation and strategy for our largest and most strategic manufacturers partners;
Provides senior business unit support for the sourcing side of our full line pharmaceutical drug distribution business, as well as subsidiaries that provide specialty distribution, private label offerings, repackaging and data analytics services to providers and manufacturers;
Collaborate with a team of legal professionals that provide cross-functional support services for the above areas;
Serves as a key legal advisor to US Pharma senior leadership on a wide array of topics relating to the manufacturer segment needs, including legal risk mitigation, manufacturer relationship management, and strategic initiatives and compliance programs; and
Frequent interactions with other internal legal and business stakeholders across functional groups.
7 - 10+ years of corporate law experience
Large law firm experience combined with in-house experience, preferred
Excellent commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills
High comfort providing health care regulatory advice (anti-kickback law, FCA, government price reporting, 340B, government contracting, antitrust) and experience in the manufacturer space (market access, supply chain channel strategy, private labeling)
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to provide sound, clear legal advice to all levels within the company, including senior business executives
Ability to work closely with, facilitate interactions within, and influence large cross-functional teams (including representatives from other areas of the law department, regulatory and compliance professionals, sales professionals and operations managers).
Notable business acumen dealing with risk management and organizational savvy
Must be a team player who can develop strong working relationships and work collaboratively with internal clients and other members of the legal senior team. Ability to lead by example including a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and undertake day-to-day legal work.
Juris Doctor Degree with excellent academic credentials. Member of a jurisdiction is required.
