The Comprehensive Transitions Program (CTP) provides inclusive campus opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities, including academics, social engagement, and work-based training. The goal is for BCTC students enrolled in the CTP program to gain skills in problem-solving, decision-making, self-advocacy, communication, and collaboration through inclusive experiences, all leading toward independence in adult life. Students in the CTP program are supported by volunteer peer mentors who are also BCTC students. The primary role of the CTP Coordinator is to foster and support inclusive higher education for students with intellectual disabilities at BCTC through collaboration and active engagement with the BCTC community including students, faculty, staff, community agencies and partners.
Assist students with application, financial aid, advising and registration processes.
Recruit, train, support, and supervise peer mentors and manage mentoring plans.
Conduct regular person-centered planning meetings and manage individualized curriculum contracts with support from the University of Kentucky Human Development Institute (HDI).
Foster inclusive excellence by connecting students with campus organizations, groups, and activities.
Assist students in developing work-based training opportunities on and off-campus.
Provide information to and collaborate with faculty about inclusive education and accommodating students with disabilities.
Coordinate the development of modified course assignments with faculty teaching courses CTP students are enrolled in.
Collaborate with BCTC departments providing support services to CTP students such as DSS, Pre-ETS, Student Success Hub, etc.
Monitor student progress, collect and report on student outcome data.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (Special Education, Human Services, Counseling, or related field) and one year of related experience, or equivalent.
Commitment to mission of comprehensive community college.
Record of successful experience as college advisor, counselor, instructor, or success coach.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively and collaboratively with others.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
