Reporting to a senior member of the admission team, the Admission Counselor, Coordinator of Campus Experiences will be tasked with campus-based strategic recruitment of prospective Occidental students. The counselor will be an integral member of the campus visit team, helping to maintain the highest level of service for campus visitors. The counselor will be responsible for the planning and execution of on-campus recruitment programs for counselors, prospective students, and admitted students and families. This includes the management of multiple flagship admission events each year, including open houses, admitted student days, and counselor events. Additionally, the counselor will oversee campus tours and produce customized campus visits for prospective and admitted students. As this work will require partnering with academic and co-curricular departments, the counselor will be the lead on sharing any academic and departmental updates, programs, and features with the entire enrollment team. The counselor will be involved in regular communication with admission constituents, including parents, counselors, and teachers. Other duties will be assigned based on the needs of the office and the skills of the hire.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate large scale admission events. These events often have between 500-800 attendees per day and their management and successful implementation is expected to be one of the largest priorities for this position.
Manage the Campus Tour program, including the recruiting, hiring, and training of tour guides.
Coordinate admitted student programming, which may include opportunities for overnight visits and coordinating class visits with faculty.
Coordinate with campus partners for high-profile visitors on campus.
Utilize technology and our admission database to identify target audiences, facilitate communication, and compile reports.
Correspond with prospective students, families, and counselors.
Minimal local recruitment travel, representing the College at various in-state events.
Recruitment management for local geographic regions, including evaluation of first-year and transfer applications.
QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
This position requires strategic thinking, cultural competency, confidence in public speaking, strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for interacting with students and families from a wide range of backgrounds, strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative approach to decision-making as well as the ability to work autonomously, and a commitment to customer service. Further, this position will require a growth mindset, comfort in facilitating conversations on race, gender, and socioeconomic status and the ability to manage up. Upholding institutional confidentiality is expected. Experience in an academic setting with an understanding of a residential liberal arts education will be valued in the selection process. Experience with Technolutions Slate is preferred. Bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license are required.
