The Kofi Annan Institute for Global Citizenship at Macalester College seeks to hire a Study Away Student Programs Specialist. This position works collaboratively with Study Away and International Student Programs staff to support students who are crossing borders and navigating new cultural contexts, seeking opportunities for collaboration in order to offer integrated intercultural opportunities for all students.
This position provides advising and support for students throughout their study away experience and coordinates all student-facing programming efforts; manages technical processes related to our advising and application process utilizing our study away software, coordinates exchange programs and implements the study away communication plan. Requires a significant amount of student contact in both advising and programming settings though degree and frequency of contact varies depending on time of year.
This position does require occasional evening and weekend work.
Provides comprehensive study away advising for an assigned portfolio of programs.
Develops and implements programming for pre-departure and post-return for study away students as well as collaborative programming between Study Away and International Student Programs that supports integration of intercultural opportunities for all students.
Coordinates Macalester's incoming and outgoing exchange programs.
Manages processes related to advising, application submission and review, and post-decision items, creating and editing all relevant content for deployment in Terra Dotta Software for Study Abroad.
Maintains study away website, generating new content and editing existing content.
Engages in and promotes Macalester’s culture of diversity and inclusion, encompassing individuals of any heritage, identity, status or orientation.

Bachelor's degree required
1-3 years of work experience (or equivalent) in a professional or education setting that requires regular use of critical thinking, active listening, and creative problem solving skills
Significant intercultural living experience
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity.
Understanding of experiential learning concepts
Knowledge of intercultural communications concepts
Proficiency in at least one language in addition to English
Experience with Terra Dotta Software for Study Abroad
