La Lumiere School is excited to invite applications for the position of Choir Director/Music Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching novice and advanced high school musicians in both classroom and extracurricular settings, and should be passionate about igniting students’ interest in music. At La Lumiere, we believe in encouraging students to go beyond content mastery and develop a sense of wonder, appreciation, and an appetite for lifelong participation in the arts. To that end, our teachers strive to meet students where they are, differentiate instruction effectively, and support students’ academic, artistic, and personal growth.
The individual in this role will need to be flexible in order to build ensembles around the strengths of current students. Our course offerings for this position include Concert Choir (year long), Music Performance Skills (year long), and at least one instrumental ensemble (year long). In some years, we offer AP Music Theory, depending on student interest. This role may also sponsor additional ensembles in the afternoon during two seasons of the year, potentially working in tandem with the directors of our theater program.

About La Lumiere School
At La Lumiere, we form character, cultivate scholarship, and explore faith in order to grow into more complete versions of ourselves.
That means that we challenge our students to thrive in all facets of their lives and support them in that endeavor. Here on our wooded campus near La Porte, Indiana (an hour southeast of Chicago), we meet our freshmen where they are, carefully stretching them out of their comfort zones while developing an intentional, supportive environment. By graduation, our seniors are well on their way to growing into the best versions of themselves, comfortable in their own skin and hungry for the next challenge—students who have grown in character, scholarship, and faith, and who believe that they’re at the helm in their own journey.
