The University of Tennessee at Martin is accepting applications for a Coordinator for Multicultural Admissions and Student Affairs. This position will report both to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Office of Student Life and Multicultural Affairs. Both units are high-impact, highenergy, forward-thinking and simultaneously handle multiple, on-going projects. This position will require frequent interaction with: current and potential students and families, high schools, colleagues within both units, and faculty/staff from across UTM's campus. This position will require occasional night and weekend hours. This position is a newly created position that will work to build on current services and enhance outreach activities to build trusted relationships and on-going community dialogues between UT Martin and area Hispanic communities. This person will provide consistent outreach to these communities in effort to better serve them, as well as to create an educational pipeline and access for students within these communities. This position will also work to serve the Hispanic students already enrolled at UT Martin by advising student organizations, as well as design and support experiential trainings to prepare students to participate in a complex global community
.Duties & Responsibilities Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: * Recruit high school students in designated areas, including high school visits, college fairs,community events, award nights/events, and individual visits where appropriate; * Plan, network and coordinate high school visits (includes both private and public institutions, and home school organizations, where appropriate) in assigned area; * Identify appropriate fairs to attend, coordinate travel arrangements for visits and provide all appropriate marketing materials; * Communicate with prospective students, their families, and counselors in person, by email, phone, social media, and direct mail concerning admission, financial aid, housing, student life, and academic programs; * Assist with data collection to identify patterns, trends, and relationships; * Assist with the development of recruitment materials; * Meet enrollment, recruitment, and student service objectives of the University, and assist with assessing the objectives annually; * Travel to and from campus as required, including extended stays for specific trainings and/or events; * Advise Hispanic / Latino student organization; * Assess the current needs of students of color and ethnic minorities on the UTM campus; * Partner with the Office of Academic Affairs to develop cultural literacy training for faculty and staff; * Provide guidance and leadership to Resident Assistants and Peer Mentors to implement engaging and informative student organized programs and activities centered on diversity; * Foster opportunities for campus dialogue about current events related to diversity and inclusion; * Actively engage in professional and personal development activities and events; * Assist the support staff as needed; * Serve on committees, work on special projects, and undertake special assignments; * Other duties as assigned
