Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire an energetic and creative full-time Middle School and Upper School Counselor to begin in the 2021-2022 academic year. Major Functions and Responsibilities:
Being accessible on a regular basis to students, faculty, and parents within the school community
Providing 1:1 services, including crisis counseling, time-limited interventions, and assessment for triage and referral purposes
Implementing division-wide or grade-specific programs and education to students and faculty/staff to address relevant issues of emotional health of students
Regularly instituting parent-education programs to raise awareness of emotional health and wellness in the community
Serving on the Student Support Services Team
Supporting teachers and deans as they manage student behavioral challenges when they arise
Collaborate with classroom teachers on social emotional curriculum
Collaborate with outside resources (like ROX and Children’s Hospital) for student programming related to social-emotional health issues (such as suicide prevention programming)
Experience, Characteristics, Qualities:
Current license required in counseling, psychology, social work or related field
Excellent communication skills, a genuine appreciation of adolescents, a sense of humor, and a demonstrated record of collaborating with a team
