The Transfer Specialist is responsible for advising transfer students for purposes of enrollment and persistence of students. The Transfer Specialists facilitates transfer, provides leadership and acts as the professional resource, college liaison and advisor for the development, interpretation and implementation of transfer policies and procedures to ensure student enrollment, persistence and equity.
Specific duties include:
Advise transfer students and facilitate transfer to ensure an experience that will promote enrollment into Hennepin Technical College, student success and planning for our current students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution.
Evaluate transcripts and maintain DARS tables.
Work closely with faculty for course evaluations
Keep current on all local, state, and federal transfer policies
Interpret and apply Minnesota State system policy as it pertains to the college.
Possess up-to-date knowledge of academic requirements to assist students with navigation through the academic and college system.
Provide leadership and expertise regarding transfer and credit for prior learning to increase enrollment, persistence, and completion while ensuring college-wide consistency and accuracy in the delivery of transfer policy and procedure.
Minimum Qualifications(expected to have to enter job)
Associate's degree in education or related field
Two years of experience in higher education in Student Services
Experience working with high school students, college students and diverse populations including adult learners, communities of color and other traditionally underserved populations
Experience assessing student needs and coordinating services
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse colleagues and partners
Working knowledge of DARS or similar degree audit system, Transferology and transfer articulation
Knowledge of FERPA, MGDPA and AACRAO guidelines
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; ISRS or similar student database; Perceptive Content/ImageNow or similar digital imaging system
Knowledge of general transfer policies
Preferred Qualifications(desired but not expected to have to enter job)
Bachelor's degree in education or related field
Demonstrated leadership skills
Experience or skills assessing and improving equity and inclusion initiatives and efforts
Experience in admissions or registrar's office dealing with academic programs and enrollment management processes
Experience working in career and technical education, specifically within the Minnesota State System and/or HTC
