As "Legal Advisor", you will apply your knowledge and experience of financial law to all legal aspects of marketing, distribution and client support as regards asset management and the investment services and funds (UCITs and AIFs) managed by Candriam Group and New York Life Group. This comprises a wide geographical range covering countries such as those within the EU, Switzerland, the UK, the US, Canada, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
Within Legal and particularly "Marketing, Distribution and Sales support", you:
keep up to date with the laws, regulations and market practices of the countries in which Candriam has a presence – especially those in which Candriam offers investment funds and services – and ensure compliance with them. This you do using, for example, a wide range of online tools and a large network of legal firms;
analyse the impact of legal and regulatory changes on the marketing of Candriam's funds and investment services, informing all other departments/persons involved accordingly;
draft, negotiate and monitor distribution and intermediation contracts, discretionary asset management and investment advisory contracts along with other related agreements, all in close collaboration with Candriam's sales desks and any other internal departments involved. This involves among others a particular focus on collaboration with Candriam's partners in Belgium;
support other Candriam departments in all legal matters related to the company's marketing activities on media such as documents, websites, apps and social media, and help the team legally monitor the "Commercial Guidelines" applicable to all marketing documents and actions;
help Candriam's widespread network of external legal firms monitor the legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to the marketing of Candriam's funds and investment services in all countries in which Candriam has an office or a subsidiary.
Required Skills & Competencies
Law graduate with at least 3 years' experience in a similar function in the field of finance or asset management.
You are well acquainted with the UCITS directive, the AIFMD regulation and the impact of MiFID on the aforementioned marketing activities, as well as with the regulatory environment governing socially responsible investment (ESG) e.g., the SFDR.
You have a particular interest in Financial Law and in the implementation of all marketing-related aspects of it in the everyday activities of a CIU investment company.

Diligent, with a thirst for knowledge, you have the organisational skills to handle the tightest of deadlines; you also have an eye for detail and good administrative skills.
Knowledge of Dutch is a must in addition to oral and written fluency in English and French.
