Amazon is seeking a high-judgment, self-motivated Sr. Communications Manager to support the needs of our growing organization. The immigration team is a group of analysts and experienced immigration subject matter experts who act as strategic partners and consultants to business leaders and partner support teams. The team centrally manages global immigration filings and the vendors that support Amazon. Global Immigration delivers projects to improve quality, compliance, and improve experience for immigration services at Amazon.
This leadership role will design and own a global communications strategy for the immigration team, focusing on communications with immigration supported employees and candidates, their managers, and other stakeholders. Global Immigration is making a big bet on achieving high-velocity, high-quality immigration communications production in 2021 and beyond, and we need an experienced leader to get us to achieve our goals. Amazon requires scalable communications solutions that get immigration-sponsored employees the information they need when they need it, with a consistent style and tone, and with resources for getting additional support. The immigration process should be as seamless as possible for our employees, and supplying them with the right information in the right way is a key piece of this strategy.
The Sr. Communications Manager will be a seasoned internal communications professional who understands how to engage with employees to inform them while calming concerns and to anticipate their needs before they do. You will be adept at generating a high volume of highest quality communications to achieve this. You will over-index on Deliver Results, driving Global Immigration to revolutionize its communications program within the first year of your tenure. You will be an expert in communications as part of the change management process, as much of immigration is notifying customers of changes in law and policy. Note: this role may be based in Seattle or Amazon's new HQ2 in Arlington, VA (preferred)
Responsibilities include: · Design and manage a new engine for the production and approval of communications to immigration supported employees and stakeholders - including features to ensure quality and velocity – for internal articles, templated push communications, videos, and potentially new forms of engagement. · Own production of a high volume of new communications (articles, short-form pieces, email templates, videos, etc.), covering US and global immigration topics of interest to employees. · Develop and manage Global Immigration’s style guide, including voice, tone, grammar, syntax and writing style choices. · Serve as a strategic advisor and/or own complex and difficult communications projects, including messages regarding new government or company immigration policies, to appropriately inform and engage supported employees and stakeholders. · Design and launch new internal channels to advise stakeholders of immigration news and information. · Develop mechanism for regular review and refresh of all published content. · Collaborate with and mentor other communications specialists on the larger team, particularly in communications strategy and project management, and provide stretch opportunities where appropriate based on interest/skill. · Continually identify areas of redundancy or no-value add to ensure process, procedure, and resourcing optimization. · Work with tech teams to automate processes and workflows where possible, and to create closed-loop mechanisms. · Create tracking mechanisms and other dashboards to measure overall health of communications programs. · Work with senior leadership within the Immigration, Legal, Public Policy, PR, and HR Risk and Compliance teams to determine when new communication strategies are needed based on immigration changes.

Basic qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field · 5-7 years of corporate communications experience · Well-versed in written and verbal communications that demonstrate the ability to interface with all levels of the organization
Preferred qualifications · 10+ years of internal corporate communications experience with heavy emphasis on project management and high-volume work · Successful record of building, improving, and running operational business processes in one or more geographies, ability to drive program effectiveness and high levels of customer satisfaction · Experience identifying and resolving complex issues, assuming leadership roles in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances – solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgment
