Santa Catalina School seeks a talented Director of Health and Well-Being to begin work in August 2021 for our independent, Catholic, PreK-12 day and boarding school.
The Director of Health and Well-Being has responsibility for the strategic leadership, vision, and implementation of Santa Catalina School’s Health and Wellness Initiative. Born out of a commitment to inspire the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual lives of studentsthrough balance and positive growth, the Health and Well-Being initiative is made possible through an endowment created to honor Sister Claire and Sister Christine.
Reporting to both Lower and Upper School Division Heads and ultimately to the Assistant Head of School for Mission and Identity, and with support from the Head of School, the Director collaborates closely with administrators, faculty members and colleagues from across the school community to develop, facilitate and implement curricular and co-curricular programs designed to support students’ health and well-being. Through curriculum, programs, and individualized services, the Director is responsible and accountable for the management and coordination of efforts to engage and motivate students in areas of integrated health and well-being. The Director will implement best practices, design ongoing health and well-being strategies, and lead the planning and delivery of a comprehensive approach to health and well-being at Santa Catalina.
The Health and Well-Being initiative supports the development of healthy, happy, resilient and balanced students. The aim is to help position our students to live their lives to their fullest potential. Areas of emphasis include personal development, relationships, exercise, nutrition, and spirituality. Program elements will be delivered through the curriculum with health classes, experiential education opportunities, workshops, and individualized and group coaching settings. The Director will work closely with the Dean of Students and the Upper School Counselor and is a member of the Upper School Administrative Team. The Director of Health and Well-Being supports the school’s mission, its values and its leadership.
Qualifications and Responsibilities
A Bachelor's Degree is required
Minimum of three years’ experience in the health field
Certification as Integrative Health Coach or equivalent is preferred
Excellent verbal and written skills as well as strong interpersonal skills
Approachable and welcoming demeanor
Ability to connect with a wide variety of personalities
Personal and professional commitment to a healthy lifestyle and respectful promotion of healthy living
Enthusiasm for fostering a culture of well-being
Ability to plan, organize and implement programming and multiple tasks, meet deadlines, anticipate and positively resolve challenges
Provides strategic leadership, vision and direction for Santa Catalina’s Health and Well-Being Initiative
Establishes programs and priorities to support positive outcomes in health and well-being of Santa Catalina students
Leads the Health and Well-Being Committee and works collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and manage the school’s wellness programming
Cultivates a culture of health and well-being that promotes the intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual health of the Santa Catalina community
Initiates and coordinates communication and collaboration with Santa Catalina’s administrative team and faculty, specifically in areas which intersect with the goals of the Health and Well-Being Initiative
Oversees the health curriculum offered in the Upper School and teaches a one semester class
Participates in the Upper Administration team meetings, prepares reports and updates for faculty meetings, board of trustee meetings, parent presentations, and publications
