Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the New Brunswick Adult Outpatient & IOTSS department at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
The Mental Health Clinician, under supervision, provides culturally competent outpatient clinical services that meet the needs of the designated population. Participates in the assessment of clinical needs and provides focused skill acquisition and symptom management using evidence supported individual, group, and family therapy for mental health and co-occurring chemical abuse/dependency. Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assesses treatment needs and provides evidence supported individual, group, and family treatment that is consistent with the service design and philosophy of the program, as clinically indicated, to assigned clients.
Expedites transfers to higher levels of care when clinically indicated, demonstrating knowledge of UBHC protocols and procedures.
Assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned clients, including coordination of treatment and liaison with medical providers and community agencies, as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
Completes report of admission paperwork, initial evaluation, treatment plan, progress notes, transfer and termination/discharge summary within prescribed time frame, as specified in UBHC policy, as indicated by regular review of records and supervisory observation.
Regularly attends and participates in training events in empirically validated practices that will enhance clinical skills as documented by attendance at same.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's Degree in a Mental Health or related discipline and a New Jersey license as required by discipline.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated competency in treating children, adolescents, adults and families.
Ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently.
Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.
Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC).
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
Competency with electronic clinical documentation.
May be required to work at least (1) evening per week.
