Under the supervision of the Lower School Director or designee, the Edison Resource Teacher will be responsible for overseeing all duties and services related to exceptional students, Edison and non-Edison, in the Lower School (grades PreK – 6th) in compliance with ADA regulations and school policies. As needed, the teacher will also willingly participate in the school community and student co-curricular activities.
- Reviews and interprets psychological and educational testing of students with documented learning disabilities. Develops a plan to address each student’s needs in the classroom. - Coordinates and chairs eligibility meetings to staff students into the Edison Program and other parent conferences as needed. At that time, the team develops a checklist to be distributed to parents and teachers, as well as an accommodation plan to be used by the Edison Resource Teacher for direct instruction/remediation. - Meets with classroom teachers during preplanning and/or as needed to explain accommodation plan for each Edison student at all levels of service. - Inputs disability information and accommodations on individual student accommodations page in Power School system. - Meets annually with each Edison parent, to update checklist, accommodation plan, and contract for Edison services. - Maintains a caseload of all Edison students in Lower School who are enrolled in the Lower School Edison Program. - Provides support and strategies for teachers as needed to ensure their understanding and proper delivery of classroom and assessment accommodations. - Monitors classroom performance of Edison students working within a Level A and/or B contract for services. - Provides one-on-one or small group sessions teaching most appropriate strategies for each Edison student in Levels A and B. - Consults with counselors as needed in support of students with disabilities who are not enrolled in the Edison Program. - Observes students in classroom as needed to assess possible need for testing into the Edison Program. - Attends Advisory Resource Council (LHPS Parent Group) meetings as scheduled as schedule allows. - Assumes other responsibilities when requested by supervisor to do so.
