Founded in 1952, Norwood School is a coeducational, independent day school with approximately 450 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The School sits on 38 beautiful and expansive acres in Bethesda, Maryland, less than six miles from Washington, D.C. Norwood’s summer camp program (Summer at Norwood) is looking to hire energetic, fun-loving, and experienced staff to lead camp programs for elementary and/or Pre-Kindergarten campers. Summer at Norwood will follow strict health and safety protocols while maintaining a high level of fun and innovative activities for a diverse group of campers. The following positions are available for 4 two-week sessions between June 28 and August 20, 2021.
Junior Day Teacher Junior Day Teachers are the primary leader of a Junior Day camper cohort (3.5 to 5-year-olds). Junior Day Teachers set the tone for class norms, rules, and expectations and are responsible for the creation and implementation of class curriculum. Ideal candidates will have experience in a preschool or day care setting.
Group Leader Group Leaders are the primary leader of a camper cohort in the Day Camp program (1st-5th grade campers) and will travel with their campers throughout the day from activity to activity. Group Leaders set the tone for class norms, rules, and expectations and create a sense of community within their cohort.
Specialist Specialists teach specialty, subject-based classes for each Day Camp cohort (1st-5th grade campers). Specialists create, implement, and oversee their class curriculum and will teach the same subject throughout a session. Classes are based around Specialist’s subject expertise.
Counselor Counselors are assigned to a camper cohort and assist in the implementation of all camp activities. Ideal candidates will maintain high energy, exhibit emotional maturity, and display sound judgement.
