*NOTE: Salaries for internal candidates are determined by the State of New Jersey and AFT, AFL-CIO Agreement and will follow promotional calculations as outlined in the bargaining unit agreement.
This is a full-time, Unclassified, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the “NL” category of employment (non-fixed work week) and have no claim or entitlement to time off or cash compensation for hours worked beyond their normal schedule. However, unusual requirements for additional work time by these employees may be compensated by allowing roughly comparable amounts of time off, provided prior approval is given by the supervisor and Unit Head.

The Graduate Training Coordinator in the Center for Health and Counseling Services reports to the Associate Director of Counseling Services and oversees all aspects of the Graduate Training Program and serves as a psychological counselor providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, psycho-educational programming, and consultation to the College community which includes faculty, staff, and students and coordinates all aspects of the Graduate Training Program.
Coordinates the Graduate Training program which includes leading the selection and ranking process of trainees, communicating with prospective trainees; coordinating the new-trainee orientation; overseeing weekly didactic and clinical trainings; coordinating with the academic programs of all the trainees and general oversight of the program.
Maintains appropriate documentation of training-related activities, such as trainee contracts
Monitors all trainees’ progress and manages any problems that may need remediation
Updates graduate training manual annually
Manages the graduate training component of the Center’s website
Provides supervision to graduate students
Conducts clinical assessments & makes referrals to community-based services when appropriate
Conducts individual and group counseling
Provides crisis intervention to students
Writes clinical case reports and notes
Provides prevention and educational outreach services regarding mental health related issues
Provides training to student groups, faculty, and professional staff regarding mental health issues
Assists in data collection pertaining to client’s mental health treatment and counseling services’ evaluations.
Consults with other units at the College on mental health issues
Hours may vary depending on the needs of the department and College and will include certain evening hours and holidays when the college classes are in session. Occasional weekend work (e.g., College Orientation, Parents Day) will be required.
Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology required.
New Jersey licensed as a psychologist.
Minimum three years of post-graduate counseling experience, one year of which must be in a college counseling center.
Experience providing direct clinical supervision to graduate students in psychology.
Proven leadership and organization skills necessary to oversee and coordinate a graduate training program
Ability to function independently and manage complex situations
Experience working with electronic medical record systems (e.g., Titanium)
Experience with culturally diverse populations essential
Demonstrated crisis intervention skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills
Strong organization skills and detail oriented
