Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Assistant Vice President for Student Life / Dean of Students provides visionary leadership and development to ensure quality of student life is conductive to student development and success and assists with the oversight of programs and services in the division.
Providing overall leadership and supervision to the following areas: Residence Life and Housing Services, Office of Student Conduct, Sykes Student Union, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Off Campus and Commuter Services.
Serving as a member of the senior leadership team and assisting the Vice President with strategic planning, budgeting, assessment, and overall leadership efforts.
Leading, directing, and collaborating with other areas and departments on campus to provide support for students in crisis.
Serving on the university’s CARE team.
Supporting the ongoing training and development of Title IX investigators and responders in the division.
Maintaining the coordination of updates for the Ram’s Eye View Student Handbook.
Serving on the Student Leadership Project Team and Campus Climate Intervention Team.
Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or related area.
At least 10 years of professional experience in related areas.
Director-level or above experience in one or more of the following areas: Residence Life and Housing Services, Office of Student Conduct, Sykes Student Union, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Off Campus and Commuter Services.
Demonstrated experience supervising multiple professional staff.
Doctorate in higher education, educational leadership, counseling, or closely related field.
Experience working with a culturally diverse university community.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience with crisis management.
Experience in developing and managing budgets.
Experience in strategic planning and assessment.
Experience as an advocate for students, shaping environments, goals, and values that promote, development, support at-risk individuals, and ensure a climate that promotes and contributes to student success, health, and well-being.
Experience supervising multiple departments.
Supervisory experience in a collective bargaining environment.
Experience working with Title IX issues.
