The Office of Student Live seeks a full-time Director of Student Leadership and Engagement. The director works to establish vibrant and ongoing student leadership development programs for traditional undergraduate students. The director provides oversight to leadership programming for Student Association, Class Councils, Resident Advisors, student organizations, and other student leaders on campus as well as creating programs and events for all students that enhance the student experience and positively affect student retention and persistence. Responsibilities include coordination of campus-wide programs to encourage the development of character in all students; providing directions to the Student Association for the successful planning, coordination and implementation of campus and community events related to students; establishment and maintenance of a process for recruiting, training and supporting Student Association leaders; ensure all student organizations have appropriate campus advisors and align with the mission of the college and student interests and serve as a resource person in the recruitment and support of student organization advisors; management of assigned budget lines for student events and programming; development and implementation of plans for continuous assessment and improvement of student leadership programming. The Director of Student Leadership will represent the Office of Student Life at campus social events, as well as college-wide and at Rochester area committee meetings. This position works with the Dean of Students to develop and execute New Student Orientation, First Year Experience and commuter-specific programming aimed at increasing retention and persistence as well as to address student conduct concerns as part of the holistic development of students.
The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in student development or other related field Two to five years of experience working with students on a college campus in the area of leadership or student development is required and experience in program or event planning is a plus. This position requires a strong commitment to the College’s Christian mission and identity and the ability to project a positive image of the College to all constituents, along with a high level of cultural competency and commitment to diversity and equity. Candidates must have the ability to maintain confidentiality related to student information, excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, communication, organization, and project management and effective team leader and leadership coach. Work may include some nights and weekends when required for student events or programs.
