The Office of Student Life seeks a full-time Dean of Students to provide support to the VP for Student and Organizational Development. Grounded in faith tradition and following a vision of education for character, Roberts provides a transformational education to over 1,700 students across the globe through its on campus and online offerings. Roberts is an integral partner in our region’s higher education field, having educated and shaped over 19,000 graduates of extraordinary character since our founding in 1866. With an orientation toward student success and holistic development, the Dean of Students will lead a department of dedicated Christ-centred professional staff in fulfillment of the College’s missions to prepare thoughtful, spiritually mature, service-oriented people who will help transform society. In the changing landscape of higher education, the Dean of Students will be a champion on campus for innovation in student life and co-curricular programming that fosters student success and enhances the student experience. The Dean of Students provides direct leadership in the areas of undergraduate student life, including residence life; commuter experience; student programming; student success; student code of conduct; and student wellness. The Dean plans and leads college programs and personnel related to student life, by setting vision and goals for each area of responsibility, establishing and implementing strategic plan priorities, managing resources, and formulating policies and procedures to enhance the student experience.
This position requires a strong commitment to the College’s Christian mission and identity; along with a high level of cultural competency and a high level of commitment to diversity and equity.A master’s degree in student development or other related field required, doctoral degree preferred plus five or more years experience in student life leadership demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to develop and execute plans to meet targets goal, be an effective team leader and leadership coach, have the ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate communication of student and organizational information; excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, communication, organization, management and conflict management and mediation; the ability to project a positive image of the College to all constituents. Work may include some nights and weekends when required for student events or programs. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate cultural competence and must value the principles of diversity and equity.
