Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Education and Training department within Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Temporary Research Assistant is to observe and assist on research laboratory experiments and protocols and assist on research studies.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develops a first-hand understanding of scientific methods and research in cancer.
Interacts with a diverse group of undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral and faculty.
Works as a team member on an existing research study or to develop and conduct their own individual research under the supervision of the faculty advisor.
Attends professional development workshops, seminars, lectures and other events (annual symposium, lab meetings etc.) associated with the Rutgers Youth Enjoy Science (RUYES) program.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Science.
Actively teaching science in high school.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective, oral and written communication skills.
Computer-literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
Good understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.
