The Baldwin School is seeking a full-time Latin teacher who is qualified to teach all levels of Middle and Upper School Latin. The successful candidate will teach four or more Latin classes, and will be able to teach the subject material effectively, engage students positively, and interact productively with colleagues and parents. We seek candidates interested in working collaboratively on innovative curriculum design and development. In addition to the work in the classroom, all Baldwin faculty members are expected to engage in those duties typical of independent day school life (advising students, moderating clubs, chaperoning events, etc.). Introduce students to the Latin language and the culture of Rome, and guide students in reading advanced literature.
In partnership with the department chair and Latin colleagues, develop appropriate curriculum and lessons to ensure a cohesive learning trajectory from year to year.
Create an inclusive and supportive classroom community, establishing routines and building relationships with students; use positive guidance, offering helpful feedback and exhibiting patience, empathy and respect.
Differentiate instruction and materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly; provide students with regular and timely feedback about their progress.
Create and regularly update a digital classroom page, using our learning management system (LMS), as a primary means of communicating classroom activities to families.
Collaborate with colleagues in other content areas to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning experiences.
Demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and a commitment to growth for yourself and your students.
Actively pursue professional development in the teaching of foreign language and other topics relevant to your teaching practice.
Serve as an advisor, club leader, chaperone, or other co-curricular leader in support of our students.
Maintain an ongoing dialogue with parents about student progress, through emails, phone calls, report-writing and in-person conferences; maintain timely, proactive, and professional communication with colleagues, families, and administration.

B.A. in a relevant subject area, M.A. preferred.
3-5 years of teaching experience preferred.
Confident and skilled in oral and written Latin.
Strong content knowledge in all relevant areas, including Latin grammar, Roman history and culture, Latin literature.
Ability to teach all levels of our Middle and Upper School Latin curriculum, including literature.
Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the school community.
Creative, energetic, and positive approach to teaching.
Ability to use academic technology to enhance learning.
