The Career Counselor is a part of the Office of Career Services advising team to provide coaching services and job search support to all Tandon undergraduate and graduate students to articulate and develop meaningful professional career goals. The Counselor will advise students on a wide range of academic, internship, and career planning, facilitating individual and group sessions throughout the academic year. In addition, the Counselor works with departmental advisors, administration, and other university offices to increase resources available to students. The Counselor also works closely with students to provide assistance with job interview preparation, recommend appropriate career resources and recruitment events for the purpose of assisting students to find an internship or post-graduation employment. The selected candidate will be able to develop and leverage relationships with industry, Tandon colleagues, and counterparts at other NYU schools.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Human Resources, Recruitment, Business, or equivalent.
Required Experience: 3+ years work experience in Professional Development, Human Resources, HR Training, Campus Recruitment or Career Advising; strong knowledge and understanding of Engineering/Computer Science/Tech/Banking/Pharma sectors and majors; ability to develop productive coaching relationships
Preferred Experience: 2+ years Previous work experience building employer relations in a higher education setting.

Must have strong and polished interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Must be able to comprehend and follow a diverse set of verbally communicated operational procedures with little guidance or training, self-manageable. Must have an extensive understanding, familiarity and experience with career coaching/professional development of college student populations Must be comfortable and professional in conducting business by telephone and in person. Position demands significant attention to detail, outstandingeffective communication and interpersonal skills, an upbeat and energetic attitude, substantial team collaboration, as well as a sense of initiative and can-do approach and working on weekends. The willingness to respond to the needs of students and employers in an increasingly technologically- oriented society. The ideal candidate possesses prior experience working in an HR department, campus recruitment functions, and/or providing professional development, and/or career coaching in either a STEM-related environment. banking/financial services, or consulting.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Well informed of labor market trends, employer needs and best practices in career services. Familiar with social media platforms and developing/implementing social media campaigns. Expertise in career development issues affecting our constituents (graduate engineering students) and associated professionals. Understanding and experience in working with international and domestic students in higher education.
