Steamboat Mountain School seeks a full-time history teacher for the 2021-2022 school year to teach World History, US History, and a global issues senior elective. Ideal candidates have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in history and at least one year of teaching at the high school level. Additionally, a qualified teacher will have a strong educational background, robust content knowledge, exemplary pedagogical skills, a passion for teaching and learning, and experience in designing curriculum. Applicants must embrace all aspects of working at a boarding and day school with rigorous academics and strong residential, outdoor, and international travel programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach 4 - 5 sections of history
Live in the dormitory with supervisory duty 2 – 3 nights a week
Perform weekend supervisory duty every fourth weekend
Lead camp trips and afternoon activities that develop students’ outdoor skills
Lead a month-long international travel trip in some years
Serve as advisor for a small group of students
