Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire an energetic and dedicated full-time Nurse to begin in the 2021-2022 academic year. This position is classified as 10 months plus 2 weeks. Major Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day management of student health and student medical records.
Serves as a health care expert, medical resource, and health care advocate for students and staff
Provides individualized, professional nursing services to students and staff while demonstrating cultural competence and a recognition of the diversity in culture and beliefs
Ensures quality of patient care in routine clinic visits and in emergency situations through utilization of the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) and makes medical referrals when necessary
Provides leadership in promotion of health and safety, including promotion of a healthy environment (monitors trends in symptoms, contagious illnesses and reports to appropriate authorities when necessary) to further prevent the spread of illness in the school community
Coordinates care between home, family, and school and advocates for student needs across multiple disciplines including counselors, learning specialists, therapists, physicians, medical specialists, athletic trainers, faculty, staff, and administration
Is aware of and follows state and local health recommendations, mandates and administrative guidelines
Assists in the development and revision of policies, procedures, and work standards for the school nursing program
Advises the Administrative Team regarding decisions when it comes to the health and safety of students, faculty and staff.
Experience, Characteristics, Qualities:
Current licensure in Ohio as an RN
Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Nursing; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Strong candidates will have at least five years of experience in nursing, preferably in a pediatric and/or school setting
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Demonstrate team work, initiative, judgment and the ability to problem solve
