The Senior Academic Adviser position will provide academic advising to current and prospective undergraduate students in The Honors College. This includes development of an individualized honors plan of study, connections to experiential learning and student support resources, guidance for postgraduate opportunities, and assistance with career development/clarification of goals. This position will also lead and develop the Hillcrest Mentor Training and Development Center, The Honors College. The senior academic adviser will facilitate collaboration with advising staff in the First Year Advising Center, professional schools, and The College of Arts and Sciences to ensure students receive comprehensive advising and support. Participation in recruitment events as needed, as well as advise incoming freshmen during orientation regarding Honors College information. Responsible for maintaining current knowledge regarding academic advising updates and disseminating the information to Honors College advisers and staff.
Master's Degree in Counseling or related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Minimum 3 years academic advising experience in a higher education setting.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C) or Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (L.L.P.C.)
2 years' experience advising high achieving or honors students.
Knowledge and experience with undergraduate research projects or service.
Knowledge of competitive scholarship opportunities.
Experience in utilizing new technology for creative advising outreach strategies for student success.
